NINGISZIDA - WATCHER OF THE GATE
Background:
Ningiszida is a Sumerian deity of questionable gender who watches the gate to the underworld (Kutha). Its name means `lord of the good tree , and its icon is the horned serpent. As a WATCHER, Ningiszia conducts individuals into the cthonic realms. It is also tied to longevity. In the Necronomicon, it is referred to as the Lady of the Magic Wand.
As we the merry psychonauts attempt to open the gate of dreams, Ningiszida can be a helping claw in parting the veil between waking and sleeping, conscious and subconscious.
The Rite:
1. Each participant carries a rock to the threshold of the sacred site. Then all repeat after the leading freak:
BAAD ANGARRU!
NINGISZIDA!
Thee I invoke, Serpent of the Deep!
Thee I invoke, Horned Serpent of the Deep!
Thee I invoke, Plumed Serpent of the Deep!
NINGISZIDA! Open!
Open the Gate that I may enter!
NINGISZIDA!
Spirit of the Deep, Watcher of the Gate,
Remember!
Open the Gate to me!
2. Then entering the sacred site, the participants chant:
I AM THE SNAKE
I DREAM AWAKE
I WATCH THE GATE
I WILL NOT WAIT
Continue until arriving at the center of the sacred site. Then
NINGISZIDA is chanted mantric web style until gnosis is achieved.
Participants then make their own sigil of the word NINGISZIDA
and write it on the rock. Charge by whatever method one finds
appealing.
3. Proceeding out of the sacred site, participants chant "I
AM THE SNAKE...I DREAM AWAKE..." until emerging from the
sacred site.
